Paul White & Finola Cronin in Conversation with Jenny Roche

In Conversation

This discussion will explore how we experience processes of transmission in dance by receiving and passing on movement through dance repertoire and what other elements of the human experience we encounter in those exchanges.

Both Finola Cronin and Paul White have embodied Pina Bausch’s creative oeuvre but not at the same time and through different lenses. For example, Paul would have encountered this material through the frame of loss as it was after Bausch’s death, while Finola experienced it during the creative development of the work or as it was restaged during Bausch’s lifetime. We discuss these different perspectives, asking how exact the dancing  body is in remembering, what of the dance is remembered and how do you encapsulate an approach and pass on a movement sensibility to others in archiving and/or restaging past works.
